Do Key Colony Beach officials abuse their power?
Let us count the ways...
Why does the city have an administrator in the first place? The administrator is never in his office. Did the administrator's actions cause the city Police Department to unionize? Can KCB fire Its administrator?
Key Colony Beach hired a "Code Enforcement Officer." Does the code officer help the community or disturb most residents? Fines collected this year have doubled and they go straight into general spending. Does the city have a "quota"? Why did the code officer suddenly violate hundreds of property owners? KCB disbanded its Code Board. Was there a profit motive there, too? Is the city deliberately code enforcing its residents into bankruptcy? And the bottom line: has the city of Key Colony Beach itself been breaking the rules?
Does no one in city government listen? What does a City Commissioner actually do? Does KCB play fast and loose with Florida's Sunshine Laws? How many employees does one city of 758 need? Why won't the commission let the community vote on important issues like the city hall rebuild?
Why did the commission cut down on public meetings? Does the city commission have a siege mentality? Why did the Key Colony Beach Recreation Committee vote to fold? Why hasn't the commission disclosed how much it has spent on architects and trailers? Why has the commission allowed transient live-aboard houseboats when it forbids residents from doing the same? Why won't the city let its taxpayers vote on the city hall boondoggle?
The City Used to be Mayberry. How did city officials turn it into Chernobyl?
