Losing my lust for KCB. My rental company is a money grab, Cabana Club has followed suit, the 31% increase in taxes b/c they are going w/ Zillow's valuation. To get anything done, out of towners are charged $100/hr. There are better places to live. Appreciate what you do… but in the Keys, the pirates and grifters rule.

The slate must be totally clean. Get rid of Harding, the attorney and the code guy. All poison for our city.

Looks like people are thinking in a good way. The existing building can be added to in the future as well as other areas and there is plenty of land to accomplish things as needed.

Good start, keep going and keep our city on a frugal path

I love the new design!!! [Referring to Proposal #8]

either one looks good ... sounds like a great idea ... [Referring to Proposal #3 and Proposal #8]

Can someone tell me what Emergency Ops is?

The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is the hub that coordinates services during an incident such as a hurricane or other disaster as well as facilitating and directing recovery/clean-up. "Emergency Ops" or Emergency Operations for KCB is the catchall term for the police department and the space for the "Disaster Preparedness" team to work in case of that emergency.

Do we need our own EOC? Probably not. The Monroe County EOC has space for KCB personnel. Still, constructing the "hardened space" means better protection for people, equipment, and records, and it fulfills one of the grant requirements. If we simply refurbish the existing city hall, there will probably not be an EOC. If we build new space, we expect the commission to at least consider putting it in.

Are two washrooms really necessary?

Yes. The various employment acts usually require separate restrooms. They also have to be ADA compliant. Further, the police department will need separate locker rooms to match similar working conditions in other departments.

For that money the texting [sic] building could have a modern look. [Referring to Proposal #8]

The aim here was not for modernity but rather to mirror and blend with the existing structure.

Looks like an apartment Building. Ugly

Blame the look on the sketch, not on the concept. A finished architectural proposal will look better.

Can we use the old post office for admin Office ?

The old post office has about 2,145 square feet of floor space. The administration area of city hall is roughly double that so we could cram som functions in the old post office but it's probably useful in the long run only if we juggle the space around.

Great news! Thank you

Good news!!! Now remove Tom Harding and Dirk Smits.
