Commentary about the August 15 Key Colony Beach City Commission meeting:
"Letters submitted to the City Clerk
will be made part of the record but not read into record."From: [Name Withheld]

Their sole mission is to supplement their incomes by squeezing every dime from the 1000 resudents/owners. They are grifters like theit mentor. Sorry, sad but true, I've been around since 1996 and it's a sad state of affairs. The oppression is palpable.
With respect,

These are my comments/ observations concerning some of the agenda items on the up-coming meetings.
I'm troubled by some of the items that will be discussed and voted on at the Thursday August 15th meetings.
In the public hearing portion why would we change our current floodplain elevations to a higher requirement than what FEMA and the state currently requires?
In the city commissioner meeting I have several concerns.
1. We have been told our budget is tight but we are going to buy a new police truck for over $48,000. The reason given was that we gave the last truck to code enforcement. My questions are many but I will keep it short. Why would code enforcement need a new vehicle Especially a pick up truck. Why not something in our older motor pool? Why are we purchasing an XLT trim? Are we using the fleet resources of the state to lower the purchase price? This appears to be a waste of budget dollars.
2. I agree in discontinuing the Rental-scape contract. I will point out we have been a sucker for these types of outside contracts over the last 7 years.
3. In concept I get what the utility board wants to accomplish. However, I caution the city about this proposal on entering property without permission. Any proposal should be very narrow in scope and limited.Recently I had a survey crew enter my property without permission or notice. I am not happy about that lack of care.
The proposal is likely to create many lawsuits and false damage claims. If any proposal does get drafted it needs to provide notice in several ways such as certified mail. A notice letter by itself is not sufficient and as I stated before will keep the city busy defending lawsuits.
A final statement. Our city has gone through a very unfortunate period. Our former managers and commissioners wasted millions of our tax dollars. Our property taxes are sky high and if we continue to make poor choices will make the city unaffordable for most of the current residents. Not only are the costs being driven by wasteful spending, we also have insurance rates that have become impossible for many of our residents to afford.
Sincerely,
Ted and Kathy Bentley
