The Postal Service wants to know what you think of the Taj ma-KCB

Did you get this invitation? The Postal Service invites you to mail them your comments.

The city administrator says it's a "done deal" but apparently the Postal Service values your opinions more. Write them a letter. Tell them what you want here in KCB. Responses are due by October 9.

Why won't the Post Office in the Taj ma-City-Hall complex hold all the PO boxes from the original Post Office? This boondoggle is just another example of how poorly this whole city hall project has been planned. The USPS sent this survey to find out how you feel about a space that will have about half the boxes of our original post office.

Tell the USPS how you feel about the plan.

Here are some facts:
  • The long time Post Office at City Hall had 1,580 P.O. boxes.
  • That long time Post Office at City Hall has 2,145 square feet of floor space.
  • The long time Post Office remained in service until May 27, 2023. That's 5 years, 6 months, and 17 days in the "condemned" City Hall.

  • The "temporary" trailer has just 944 P.O. boxes (the other 600+ are "stored" in the back of the trailer).
  • The move caused post office patrons to lose addresses they have had for years.

  • The new floorplan has about 1,600 square feet of net interior floor space.
  • The new floorplan shows about 824 P.O. boxes.

  • We lose boxes each time the city moves us.

Here's a look at the original Post Office in our City Hall:

The "temporary" Post Office Trailer doesn't have enough room for all the boxes we had in the building shown above. The 1,600 square foot building specially designed for us is even worse: it will lose even more boxes.

Write a letter to the Postal Service. Tell them what you want here in KCB. Responses are due by October 9. Here's the address on the survey card:
