People Are Asking

Is it true that the Key Colony Beach Post Office can't fit all the PO boxes in the trailer the City rented?

» Yes.

» A double-wide trailer is our "New Post Office"? At last!! How thrilling. Wow.

» On May 27, 2023, the Post Office moved from its long time home at City Hall into the rented double wide trailer in the parking lot. The last day to pick up mail in the "real" post office was Friday, May 26. Not all boxes were moved but mail is available at the "temporary" Post Office Trailer as of 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30.

» This is just another example of how well this whole city hall project has been planned. The "temporary" Post Office Trailer doesn't have enough room for all the boxes. The boxes on the "back row" won't fit, so residents who use those will "temporarily" pick up their mail at the counter.

This is not the U.S. Postal Service's fault!

» "We pick up our mail on that back wall," one resident said. "We've gotten no notice that we will have to pick up our mail only during the 'window' hours. What if we want to pick it up on the weekend or another time? I guess we're just SOL."

» This letter looks at the "poor decision making and poor planning" and tells you exactly who is to blame, along with the city administrator's and the city clerk's responses.
There were 1,580 P.O. boxes in our post office.
There are now 944 P.O. boxes in the "temporary" postal trailer.
Here's a list of the box numbers lost.
» And so it goes.

Read on to see why the new Taj ma-City-Hall design won't hold all the boxes either.
