CITY COMMISSION ACTION

TO: The City Commission of the City of Key Colony Beach:

REFERENDUM PETITION

We, the undersigned qualified electors of the City of Key Colony Beach, Florida, do hereby petition the City of Key Colony Beach Commission to adopt the below measure as an amendment to the City of Key Colony Beach Code, or to submit said referendum to the qualified electors of Key Colony Beach, Florida, in accordance with Chapter 2, Article 2, Section 2-16 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Key Colony Beach, Florida. Chapter 2, Article 2, Section 2-16 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Key Colony Beach, Florida, is incorporated herein by reference.

The referendum petition shall be directed to the City Commission and shall be dated no later than ten (10) working days after the final passage of any measure enacted by the city commission, and shall designate by title, number, and date of enactment the particular measure or section thereof sought to be repealed or to be submitted to a vote of the electors. The filing of the referendum petition shall not serve to suspend the measure to which it is directed unless the petition is signed by at least twenty-five (25) per cent of the registered electors of the city. If the referendum petition is signed by twenty-five (25) per cent of the registered electors within the city, the filing of the referendum petition shall serve to suspend the effective date of the measure except in the case of an emergency measure which shall be defined as any measure enacted on account of an urgent public need for the preservation of peace, health, safety or property which was enacted by the affirmative vote of at least  our (4) members of the city commission. This Referendum Petition is subject to all applicable Florida Election Law.

THE PETITIONER'S REQUESTED TEXT TO BE INCLUDED ON THE BALLOT:

At the Key Colony Beach Commission Meeting held July 20, 2023, the City Commission considered the measure "7.f. Discussion/Approval on Recommendations by the Bid Evaluation Committee for the City Hall Project." Commissioners voted 3-2 for the "Motion to accept the HOB bid for the new city hall project."

Shall the voters of Key Colony Beach reject the City Commission's "Motion to accept the HOB bid for the new city hall project"?

Under penalties of perjury, I declare that I have read the foregoing document and that the facts stated in it are true and I am a registered voter of the city of Key Colony Beach, Florida.
