Although I moved out of KCB recently my heart is still there. I lived in KCB for 52 years, raising my 5 kids, was a Commissioner for 4 years and donated plenty of time along with the finest people on earth.
My house has finally been sold , closing next month. I want to thank you and your husband, along with the many KCB'ers of fighting for what is right. I too always felt that waste has been the Commissioners' goal over and over. I remember when the floor of City Hall had pilings placed throughout to save it, and it worked.....putting in "marble floors" which created its new name Marble Hall....and then this new waste of money over and over with everyone probably trying to put in a new gorgeous building we cannot afford.
As a Commissioner I always voted against hiring someone to be a City Manager. When everyone works together for a common cause (the betterment of our community) nothing fails. And that's what we did.....volunteers were always available. City Commissioners each had a job to do in the city so they earned their small pay. Now they receive their not so small pay and all they do is vote at the meetings and like our present government, they vote for more spending and our taxes go up and up.
One big thing.....did anyone ever consider the amount of money the city is paying in RENT on all those stupid trailers (plus the potty one they had there for years !!!)?
Don't give up your fight to "Save KCB" -- it truly is a jewel of the sea. The way I feel is to dump the city manager and the commissioners and start all over with like minded people fighting for the city they love. I am now 90 years old and know my solution for changing everything is extremely difficult but I urge you not to give up......and I want to thank each one of you who are in the fight......don't give up.....!
