On the agenda is a "Discussion/Approval of a proposed settlement agreement between the City of Key Colony Beach and Laurie Swanson pertaining to the litigation ‘Laurie Swanson vs. Key Colony Beach’ Case No. 23-CA-000205-M"
During the discussion, several observers heard city attorney Scott Black say, "The motion should be a motion to approve a revised Memorandum of Understanding with Ms. Swanson. Upon her execution of the agreement and the execution of the agreement by the mayor, the city will then automatically rescind the July 20, 2023, award of the HOB project." [emphasis added]
Silvia Gransee interrupted Atty Black's dictation for the precise wording. The meeting minutes should show the final wording as: a "Motion to approve the revised Memorandum of Understanding with Ms. Swanson. Upon her execution of the agreement as well as the mayor's execution, the prior vote to approve and accept the HOB bid for the new City Hall project will be repealed." [emphasis added]
This is very good news in time for the holidays.
After some discussion, the city commission voted 4:0 to approve the revised Memorandum of Understanding and, on Laurie Swanson's signature, to repeal the vote to award the contract to HOB.
KCB can now move forward with a new plan for city hall!
