Members of the public may then speak for the usual three minutes to support or oppose any candidates.
Depending on what the commission decides for rules, the commissioners will nominate one or more of the candidates and then vote.
There will be a "Smart City" Townhall Meeting on November 20.
The commission will renew the legal services agreement with law firm Vernis & Bowling despite the city ordinance specifying that "there shall be a City Attorney," not an entire fleet of them.
Section 5-4. - City Attorney.
There shall be A City Attorney of the City who shall be appointed by the City Commission. He shall serve as chief legal advisor to the commission, the Mayor-Commissioner and all City departments, offices and agencies, shall represent the City in all legal proceedings and shall perform any other duties prescribed by this Charter or by the City Commission. The City Commission shall have authority to retain additional counsel in specific actions or proceedings in its discretion.
The commission will approve dry floodproofing of the City Maintenance Building despite ignoring that as an option for city hall.
The commission will approve a warrant for $476,168.08 despite the lawful requirement that warrants must report all city spending already drawn from each amd every fund or account.
Questions the Commission should be asking that aren't on the agenda
People are asking why the work environment is so toxic that every "before-Turner" employee has left the city?
People are asking why Commissioner and former Mayor Patti Trefry resigned abruptly but Commissioners Harding and Vickrey haven't stepped down? They are as culpable as Ms. Trefry
Commissioners get a "packet" which is typically about 100 pages of paperwork that supports all the agenda items. The agenda and the packet were both created November 9. The commissioners have their packets (both the PDFs and the paper copies) for the November 16 meeting but despite citizen requests, the packet still wasn't on the city website as of Tuesday morning, November 14. Why did it take so long to be posted ... again?
The Government in the Sunshine manual makes clear that the packet should be published to the public at the same time it is produced for the commissioners. People are asking why it was not.
