The City Commission will host a special Public Hearing to appoint a part-time city administrator and their first Budget Workshop in Marble Hall and as a Zoom webinar on Monday, June 15, at 9:30 a.m.

The BUDGET WORKSHOP will begin at 9:35 a.m. or at the end of the Public Hearing.

We encourage every KCBer to Ask Your Commissioners about the items on the agenda. The BUDGET HEARING agenda does not include time for citizen comments or questions.

City Administrator

The City Commission will host a special Public Hearing to introduce and choose from the applicants for a part-time City Administrator in Marble Hall and as a Zoom webinar on Monday, July 15, at 9:30 a.m.

The current applicants for City Commissioner are former Marathon mayor John Bartus and former Marathon city manager Mike Puto. A third person expressed interest but has not submitted his application at this time.

The Applicants will be invited to make brief statements about their goals and their experience. Commissioner will ask questions and make comments and there will be time for citizen questions and comments. The appointment by motion will follow with a rollcall vote to approve.

City Budget

The City Commission will hold its first budget workshop in Marble Hall and as a Zoom webinar on Monday, July 15, at 9:30 a.m. or after the Public hearing above concludes.

This is a working meeting. The agenda does not include time for citizen comments or questions. Commissioners and staff will explain the budget process, government financing, and the annual TRIM notices. They will introduce the Draft Budget Calendar. On the agenda are:

  • Estimated taxable value of KCB properties for 2024/25
  • Estimated year end cash reserves
  • The Treasurer's report of General Fund YTD revenue and expenditures
  • A draft of the Utility Board budget
  • A draft of the General Budget
  • Discussions of the millage rate
  • Commission direction/discussion
  • And department requests including the code department, now treated separately from the building department.
