Tuesday, December 19. Laurie and Joey met on Tuesday. She had printed our "Memorandum of Understanding" to settle the referendum lawsuit. She signed it. She reported that the city attorney instructed him not to sign it but that he would take it to Wednesday's special meeting.

Wednesday, December 20. The city held a Special Meeting for the "Discussion/Approval of a proposed settlement agreement between the City of Key Colony Beach and Laurie Swanson pertaining to the litigation 'Laurie Swanson vs. Key Colony Beach'."

The city attorney had revised the memorandum after Laurie signed it. After some discussion, the city attorney dictated a motion for the commission. They voted 4:0 to approve the revised MOU and, on Laurie's signature, to "rescind" (rather than repeal) the vote to award the contract to HOB automatically.

Your referendum petition instructed the commission to repeal their vote to award the contract to HOB or to submit that measure to the voters. KCB can now move forward with a new plan for city hall!

Here's a look at some of them. A new KCB City Hall Committee can prepare 3-4 alternates so KCB citizens can choose the best City Hall design for the next 66 years. We have a starting point to get them off the ground quickly.
