What is the job description for a Code Officer in a small community?

» The prime duty of a Code Officer is to be available to the public.
» The Code Officer knows and understands the municipal ordinances and laws and their history.
» The Code Officer must quickly answer public questions about the municipality and its ordinances.
» Code enforcement is corrective, not punitive. Municipal ordinances are civil matters, not criminal charges, and their enforcement must be accomplished civilly.
