People Are Asking

What will the $14 million Key Colony Beach City Hall look like, part I?

Here are the official, shopping mall renderings from the city website.

Pretty nice looking structure for Miami Beach (population 82,890). Maybe a little much for Key Colony Beach (population 758).

Who cares if city rules call for "the elevations [and] building materials, [to be] in harmony with the existing and proposed structures in the general area" or that the "proposed structure or project is not, in its exterior design and appearance, of inferior quality such as to cause the surrounding properties to materially depreciated in appearance and value," right? That's only required by KCB Land Development Regulations.

"A picture's worth a million dollars..."
Here's what the contractors will build, and what you'll see, from Sadowski Causeway and after you turn onto West Ocean Drive. (Note: KCB Land Development Regulations also don't allow "blank walls" on buildings in the city. That would include the gun tower and the post office.)

Here's a rendering of what you'd see "flying over" the city hall lot once all the buildings and paving are finished. This image is overlaid on the current "bird's eye view" of the lot. The white area is the proposed roofline while the dark gray shows the visible parking areas. All the proposed construction eliminates most of the grass and trees that make the present city hall lawn so inviting.
